For ten years, LennSKI has been striving to make low-budget (or as it usually turns out, no-budget) short films that maintain a certain edge, but at the same time represent a fun sensibility. LennSKI films are usually upbeat, while trying to communicate to the masses. While the first three films in the catalog are sketchy, shot with only an 8mm video camera and using limited resources, they paved the way for the more creative ventures seen in Attack of the B Movies and most recently, A Walk Beside Eden. This all culminated in the 2007 comic short, Loose Change, the first LennSKI film shot entirely on High Definition.
Unlike the collection of video skits that were originally created for the MySpace audience, these six short films were actually thought out, written, and have been worked on numerous times in attempts to experiment with new technology, such as editing and the use of visual effects. They are the featured works that define the company, and hopefully will pave the way for an eventual feature film.
SHORT FUTURE -- This is the first official film created under the LennSKI Entertainment banner. It started as a simple class video, a visual retelling of my short story. Go behind the scenes, discover the madness behind the camera as well as on film, and experience the finished movie.
STAR WHORES -- This was a no-brainer, but it was also never intended to become a serious addition to the LennSKI archives. The assumption was that every aspiring filmmaker wants to make a Star Wars parody, and what better way than with action figures? Inspired by the then-upcoming-film Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, this Micro Machines-driven epic was shot in four hours on a cold Winter day...entirely in a bedroom.
OEDIPUS THE KING -- In 2001, this adaptation of Sophocles' play, also a school video project, was the most ambitious -- not to mention the most controversial. The subject of great criticism by my English teacher, as well as fellow classmates, I actually had to fight to earn an acceptable grade, due to its sexual references and topics. Learn about the work and the controversy that went into making this landmark LennSKI film.
ATTACK OF THE B MOVIES -- Some may consider this the first "official" LennSKI film, as it was the first production to actually be shot on 16mm motion picture film stock. The result of my film school narrative, this horror spoof underwent a casting process, as well as the three phases of production: pre-production, principal photography, and post production. A labor of love, this could perhaps be considered the first "mainstream" film in the LennSKI catalog. Learn about the casting process, working with actual actors, and shooting on a professional medium.
A WALK BESIDE EDEN -- Acclaimed for its serious subject matter and the boldness of its "type", this project, entirely shot on digital video, spans over five locations from around the Detroit area, and was shot in the span of a year. It remains the most anticipaited and most ambitious project to date, with a running time of just over half an hour.
LOOSE CHANGE -- The shortest, and yet, possibly the most entertaining of the LennSKI short films, based on one of my earliest story ideas. Scripted in half an hour, actor/friend Matt Weatherford and I set off on a hot, summer day, shooting and editing the entire film in less than twenty-four hours -- a similar task was given to the contestants of Steven Spielberg's summer reality show, On the Lot. This unique fantasy film was shot entirely on High Definition, and continues to pave the way for the growing imagination that LennSKI prides itself in.
